Archive for Questions

I’m busy with my exercises…

So I am going to let you do some work today…

Five simple questions.

  1. How do you unwind?
  2. Who do you sing along to?
  3. Favourite food?
  4. Most treasured possession?
  5. Closest moment to death?

Huh?  You want me to answer them first?    Wellllll!  Ok then.

How do you unwind? - With a corkscrew!

Who do you sing along to? – Kiri Te Kanawa (in my dreams!)

Favourite food? – A meal in front of me!

Most treasured possession? – My memories.

Closest moment to death? - The last one! ;)

Black & White

Bikehikebabe  has become a very regular visitor to the party here.  I love her effervescent sense of fun.  I am sure she has a devilish twinkle in her eyes.  She makes me smile with every visit and I am envious of her lovely skin.

She has no blog of her own, which is rather a shame, but then if she had a blog, all the good gems would not be shared among us.  Now, bhb is a paid up member of the ‘Hippy Club’, about 1 month post Op for hip replacement.  I will be anxious for her tips to help me when my turn comes.

Jean Cheerful Monk has given bikehikebabe a page all to herself on which she tells us that she is an:

Everyday housewife, 4 adult kids (2 male, 2 female), physicist husband, likes to hike, backpack, bike, dance (any kind), ski, snowshoe, ice skate (Don’t do kayaking anymore.). Has problem living with smart husband / feeling stupid, but living life as I intended. (Age 75)

What a wonderful spirit!

On the post Out to Lunch last saturday bhb asked if Magpie11 was an 11yearold bird!

Magpie 11 provided the answer with a link to his blog - must send the bill for a the advertising

Once again bhb was back with the following comment:

Thanks for the link that explains Magpie11.

When I was in Ireland many years ago, I noticed that the bird (Magpie) was black & white. (I was told that D.D.T. killed all the smaller birds.) So were all the cats & dogs, black & white. This was in the farmland area. Also the cows were all black & white. They give richer milk. I don’t ever remember seeing a black & white cow in the U.S.

I asked what’s the name of the white weed that was so prolific. (Queen Anne’s Lace—I forgot). The farmer said it’s called “White Weed”.

Are all the animals Black & White?  I know we have black or white sheep in this part of the country.

Now I have decided to throw open these serious questions for all of you out there in this fair green Isle to cast an eye over and share your vast knowledge right here on my blog.

A Tear of Hope

From time to time I have written about sculptures that I have seen.

Today I make mention about another beautiful work of art.  I have not actually seen it or had the opportunity to photograph it.  In fact it was first brought to my attention by Conrad a few days ago.

Photo from snopes.com

The Teardrop Monument was a gift to the United States of America from Russia, after 9/11. It was made & installed by the Russians on the fifth anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, to honor those who lost their lives that fateful day. It stands right across from the Statue of Liberty.

It is a 100-foot-tall, 175-ton, bronze-clad sculpture, which encloses a 40-foot steel teardrop, entitled “To The Struggle Against World Terrorism’ by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli.

The clean simple lines of the work appeal to my eye but it is the reaching out of one nation to another that really impresses me.  Two nations who were arch enemies for so long drawn closer through tragedy.

You can find some more  photos and information here.

My CV

Clearing some paperwork this afternoon I came across the CV I used for my last position in full time employment. It brought back memories… and I thought of the day I heard about the job, the people I worked with and the work I did. It was a little unusual as I was already working there on a part-time basis and before that as a volunteer.

How my life has changed in the past few years! I am a very different person in so many ways. I am older of course, not as afraid of technology but alas no longer allowed to work for health reasons.

IF…

If things were different and I was allowed to work, how would you word my CV?

Question time

When I am sewing my mind wanders…

River Liffey at Lucan

Perhaps you can help me

Once you’re in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the Bus lane?

Now where did I put that needle? Ouch!
