Writing Desk
In the dull dead days of yearend, I wrote a ‘To Do’ list for 2013.
#16 - Enter a writing contest. Anyone know of a contest that calls for no more than 100 wurds?*
I am not a writer, I have a fear of the blank page… memories of scratchy dip pens, ink stained fingers to my knuckles and large black blobs making my writing almost indecipherable.
Nancy’s Challenge was right for me, show her my writing desk.
Anyone know how to get a picture of the inside of my head?
Where I go, my desk comes too!
*‘wurds’ - Dublinese for words.

Yay! You found a writing contest that called for no more than 100 words . . . in the very first month of the year.
Thanks for playing along.
BTW: You were held captive in my spam folder . . . I set you free.

Google ‘flash fiction competitions’. Flash fiction can be up to a couple of thousand words or as few as 50.

Here’s my strategy to get a picture of what’s inside your head: when you go in to get your topless photo taken, next time, just as they are getting ready to do the photoshoot, quickly slip your head between the glass plates just like you do your … well, you know.

I’m always surprised when people who blog say they are not writers.:)
So lovely to meet you via Nancy’s writing desk challenge…your ‘wurds’ are quite wonderful…the images were clear…I was there with you and your splotchy page and your ink-stained fingers…beautiful writing!

Welcome Vivian, Thank you for the compliment. I am saving my tour of the competition entrants until Monday, that way I hope to catch up with all of them in one go.

I’d never seen it put quite the way you did–a picture of the inside of your head being your “writing space”–but it’s exactly the way I write too. I wait to hear the muse and then I sit down to type it out on a keyboard. The problem is, the older I get, the slower the muse gets. If I could only conjour up those images half as fast as I can type, I’d be a more prolific writer! Thanks for the glimpse of your space.

Alice - I am slow to reply, my muse was busy with a weekend of family fun with Elly, George & Buffy. They are now safely home and my house is quiet once more.
