Wireless Woes
I’ll be listening for the doorbell. You see I am expecting a delivery.
A Kindle Wireless Reading Device, but it is not for me. There are books ordered for it too.
Normally being nosey I open the parcel to check what is inside the contents are all correct and undamaged. This time I was encouraged to open up the package and try to add the books. Now, I do have a bundle of books already waiting to be collected. I wonder if I could add them?
“Just put it into the wireless” says Yer Wan to me.
Why do I end up with the difficult jobs? I am covered in dust from scrambling about looking for the wireless. At my new advanced age, it is very difficult.
I found it!
But…..but…. how do I attach the Kindle?

Easy. Just smash a hole in the top with a large hammer, insert the Kindle and then turn the knob on the left as far as it’ll go. If that doesn’t work, try turning it off and turning it on again.
So if it isn’t for you, who’s it for?

You are a hoot Grannymar. Lucky person getting the kindle. I treated myself to one after Christmas. It was an absolute essential I told my hubby. After all look at the way it would reduce the luggage weight going on holiday!

Nick, I cannot find the hammer!
I think it is for Buffy. Well, she needs some entertainment when Elly & George are at work!
RG, I think I heard Elly say things like that too!

Hello GM,
I have owned both of the pictured items and I must say I like the Kindle best.
Actually, I had given up reading after a lifetime of
cherishing books because my eyes were finally protesting the fine print I was forced to read.
I first went to a magnifing glass but that was cumbersome so my son surprised me with a Kindle and I love it. I am back to reading again because I can make the font as big as I like it and I no longer have to strain my eyes to read.
Also, what most people don’t mention about the Kindle is that it will read the book aloud to you if your eyes get too tired and you want to find out what happens in the story.

BIg John, A very handy thing, is a hammer!
Nancy, now you have taught me something! I did not realise that you could use the Kindle to listen to books. I wonder if it might get lost in the post?
WWW, A tomboy would be nearer the mark! It is for Elly. There is no postage charge to the UK and since she is coming up soon, it seemed the sensible thing to do.

Grannymar,
Yes, the Kindle can speak..And it’s very smart, too. I would say that if it gets lost in the mail it will just shout at the Royal Mailman and give him directions to your house.

Nancy - Now that is very handy. I wonder if I could teach it to find Toyboys?

Grannymar,
When you get the Kindle, directly to the right of the space bar is the small button with an A on it. THis is what you push to change your font size or go from Text to Speech.
You navigate the choices with the large square on the right. If you click the bottom part of the square you begin underlining what you want to do.Make the letters larger or go text to speech? Underline your choice then click the center of the square and it will happen. You can go in all directions by pushing the various sides of the square then pushing the center to apply.
Elly and YOU will love the Kindle. You don’t get a printed manual which I would have preferred but there is a good user manual altready installed on your Kindle or better yet, go on line and just put Kindle User Manual in your search…..You can download and print it or just read it when you have a question.

Nancy - Thats a great tutorial. I may not want to hand the kindle over when Elly comes!

I saw no advantage to a Kindle, but Tom says he’s getting one. His books are usually 2 inches thick & he reads several a week so he’s welcome.
Nancy (BTW my only sister is Nancy) tells me that your book will read aloud to you. Great! Big print is very nice. Light weight & Tom says it will look up words for you. Now I might want one.

BHB - The more I hear the more I like the idea of the Kindle. It sounds like it would eliminate the problem of words jumping about on the page. Now all I need to do in save my pennies and then dedicate an hour a day to using it! I might become a reader yet!

I received a kindle from one of my sons for Christmas this year and I love it. At first, I thought I would miss turning pages, but no that never happened. Like Nancy, I was unaware that my kindle would read for me. Just found that out last night and haven’t had time to explore, but will soon.
Hopefully, you will have one of your own soon!

Marianna, you are welcome.
Maria, One of these days, but there are other more important items on my list at the moment. I had fun with this in the last few days.
