Obsessions
That man Ramana is obsessed with keeping the LBC folk from any chance of mental stagnation. Twice in three days he has produced topics to tax our thoughts and fingers. Today it is:
Obsessions
I like neat and I like tidy.
I like everything to have a place and to be put back there when not in use. I don’t consider it an obsession, it just makes sense and saves time chasing around looking here there and yonder when you need something in a hurry. But that is a subject for another day.
To day I take you in a different direction.
The 1985, Obsession For Women was supposed to set the world on fire with its powerful sensuality. It revolutionized the prestige fragrance business with its feverish intensity and irresistible appeal.
By the end of the century it had a sister scent on the block - Secret Obsession.
Like the original Obsession, Secret Obsession is from the family of florals, but the two scents are not meant to be related in any way other than the name. They don’t share anything much other than an amber-y base and an overtly sensuous character. Secret Obsession has a sweet, fruity opening but, without the sparkling and sheer pinkish berries of so many fruity florals of the previous years. The fruits are spicy and overripe. It may smell more grown-up than the older sister, but to me it’s a bit loud, and for some reason reminds me of hairspray.
My personal obsession remains a beautiful and alluring fragrance that has a luscious blend of fresh cut grass, light fruit notes against a background of flowers and demure musk and sandalwood.
No I am not talking about the compost heap!
I’ll stick with..
I apologise for sounding so flippant at a time when we are all so conscious of the Tsunami that hit Japan earlier today and now as I type has hit the coast of Hawaii. My heart goes out to all who find themselves in turmoil.

My apologies. I will try not to do so in the future, though I don’t promise. Two very nice twists. You almost had me transported to Hawai!

I used to wear Obsession and I was obsessed with it! Now I can’t wear any scent; mr. kenju can’t stand odors since his stroke - unless it is food!

I admire your strength and your favourite perfume ma’am. Don’t use it myself, but it conjures up some pleasant memories when a waft passes the nostrils… (tongue in cheek - Cardi)

Don’t know that one, I never wear perfume and Jenny wears various Jo Malone perfumes. A lot of obsessions are so commonplace we don’t think of them as obsessions at all, like my favourite obsession which is reading. We really only think of things as obsessions when they become destructive, like addictions or OCDs.

Ramana - You know well that I am teasing you.
Judy - It was always far to sweet for me. I have been using Eternity for years, once or twice I tried to change, but always came back.
Cardi - Glad the memory made you smile!
Nick - How true. What we see as normal, others see as our obsessions.

I used to (when I wore perfume long ago) wear Obsession. Loved it! Now I rarely wear anything other than whatever scent my moisturizer carries. As for neat and tidy, that’s my thing too. And it’s why I haven’t been around for awhile–too busy reorganizing a kitchen that got in disarray over the past year of my chemo period, while Hubby–who is not known for his attention to detail ‘cuz he always had women around to take care of it–commandeered the kitchen. Had to focus on it, took more than a week, because I couldn’t find anything! Now I’m feeling in a “can do” mode again.

Should I have to explain, that I DO wear clothing still?

Alice, I am always fascinated how we women like to organise our kitchens. No. Alice, there is no need to explain.

Oh Snap! My bottle of Obsession (which I don’t like as much as Eternity) is almost done. I bought it in Paris for next to nothing. Next time, I’ll goe apeshit with Calvin Klein perfumes in France they’re priced like lolly water. Hopefully, Jeff’s bringing a bottle of Eternity $40 in the US! GAH! Although I can get it via Perfume Connection online for just $75 which is cheap by most standards. I ALWAYS get a positive comment when I’m wearing it. Oh, I’d like to be neat and tidy but I live with a 24 year old man. Impossible.

Neat and tidy is how I like things, but not obsessively so.
Not smelling like old leather, a cowpie, and a pack of dogs is a bit difficult around here at times. So when out and about it’s Realities….light and clean smell.
I wore Opium for a while, when I was much younger and had not a clue… that price wasn’t the factor, but body chemistry. Finally realized that that wet possum smell was not the collar on my coat but, my Opium perfume…

Baino, Eternity is subtle and yes, it always brings positive comments.
Brighid, Opium was one perfume that turned my tummy! At times I have had to leave a room because someone close by had a bath in the stuff!

Since we’ve kind of turned this to perfume…I wonder if the same brands are attractive to both men & women. The heavier ones, like Opium, can turn my stomach, but I’ve see men that drool over a woman that walks by with it on….just wondering

Brighid, Some men just drool. Full Stop!
