Paulo1 - I am sure you are not the only Dubliner to have missed them. The National Botanic Gardens of Ireland are situated in Glasnevin, they are about 3.5km north from the centre of Dublin, they are close to the junction of Botanic Avenue and Botanic Road. Car parking facilites are available for a flat fee of €2.

Maynard - You need to show the colour of your money!

Nancy - Is there any State that you have not visited?

Baino - It was fun to watch my niece exclaim about plants that are common and grow on the streets back home.

Patty - I have plenty of other photos of the glasshouses, but chose only a couple. Mind you this area is but a small part of the whole gardens.

Ah the old Glasshouses are wonderful. I bet they're full of plants that I pull out as weeds in my garden! Haha! My grandma used to grow poinsettia in a pot and geraniums on the kitchen windowsill in England, the're weeds out here! Mind you, I can't grow that harbinger of spring, the crocus or fuschias, too warm.

My Granddaughter went to Shippensburg University so I know exactly where you live.

I know you would enjoy a visit to Philadelphia and Horticultural Hall.....

I will seek it out someday. Don't tell Grannymar, but I'm trying to get my bid in to be one of her "Toyboys". So far---- no luck!!!!!!

Ramana - There are no pretty plants in the spam box, sorry you sat there for so long. The website for Empress garden is being refurbished, so I will revisit in a week or ten days.

Grannymar, my association with botanical gardens goes back to my youth when they were places for trysts. Pune has a lovely botanical garden but not quite as grand as some of our other ones in other cities like Calcutta and Chennai. http://empressgarden.org/

@ Maynard

Hello Maynard,

Do you live in Pennsylvania or am I confusing you with another of GM's admirers?

If you do live here there are two gardens centers you would love in the Philadelphia area.

Visit Horticultural Hall in Fairmount Park,Philadelphia for a wonderful greenhouse display.

Also, Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square are a treat to tour. If you go at Christmas time they have a wonderful light display outside as well as all the beautiful flowers and plants inside.
