Susan C - It certainly was not fun, but it made me realise how dependant we have become for modern technology. Sitting on the stairs in the days prior to central heating or double glazing while booking a call with a telephone operator, is something I remember well. back in those days the telephone receiver weighed a ton and the dial was heavy and slow!

I was stressed out just reading that! It brought me back to three years ago when I was sitting on the stairs in our last house with a dead landline, no internet and a dodgy mobile phone, driven close to tears, listening to Eircom blaming BT and BT blaming Eircom. Argh!!

I find this outsourcing of calls very frustrating as I can't understand what they're saying half the time. I often wonder do they (in the call centres) feel as frustrated as I do.

Nick - The fact it was not a singular customer issue is what bothered me. Surely I was not the only one to report the fault, and why is the first check not made at the exchange instead of almost blaming the customer for being for being incompetent!

Baino - It is good to be back and among friends again.

Steph - Thanks for the welcome.

Magpie - The Thursday Special was set up before I went to Dublin. It was the end of the line so I need to begin sorting once more!

Brighid - Patience is the shortest route, otherwise I would end up in bad form and the person on the other end of the line might not want to help.

Wow, and I thought I had been thru it with my service. Your patience is admirable. Glad to see you back.
I recently had to talk to a service center and no lie, actually got a very nice southern lady right here in the US. Thanked her profusely for being so nice, helpful, and not outsourced.

Your Thursday joke is not as funny as usual tho'. Must be something to do with the trauma....
Thanks for the "heads up" on the number BTW

Oh and did the chap in Mumbai introduce himself as something like John Smith? I had one who used an English name and I'm afraid I asked who he was trying to kid.....the line went dead!

Good to see you back. My connection constantly 'drops' out and iNet have decided they're done with me because I'm outside the 5km radius from the nearest server! Stupid people. Sometimes my IP address jumps from Port Morseby in New Guinea!
