Bank Holiday Weekend
The First weekend in August is a Bank holiday in the south of Ireland. We in the wee North have to wait until the end of the month for our last long weekend until Christmas.
So If you live in the south, and plan a trip to the beach REMEMBER to stay under cover and not get burnt.
Why? Because it is dangerous!
You don’t believe me…..

He he. In this weather, I don’t think many people will be sitting on the beach. They’re more likely to be holed up in the local caff watching the rain trickle down the windows. So much for all these families taking their holidays at home instead of going abroad - they won’t make the same mistake next year.

over here we’re waiting for the rain that didn’t fall on Ireland yesterday.
Good oh! Green trees, green leaves, green grass…so peaceful on the eyes!

@Nick - It is almost worse than paying to go abroad and discover there is a freak heatwave at home.
@Magpie - Last evening the wind howled, trees bent double and the rain battered the windows, I donned an extra layer and focused on cheerful people in sunny climes to brighten up my world.

Slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen, slap on a hat! Although I don’t think you lot need to worry to much about tell tale white sox and watch bands! (I sent the paduan home with blisters the size of pudding bowls on the tops of his feet! Did he listen to Aunty? Did he hell! I don’t think his mother has forgiven me!)

I used to work with one of them and another lives in this town. Both great lookers.

Speaking of sunburn…….
A man was on holiday in the Caribbean and, liking the continual good weather, settled down for a day’s sunbathing.
He fell asleep and after a whole day his legs were sunburnt beyond belief and he could hardly stand for the pain.
So he goes along to the doctor for treatment.
The doctor looks at the man’s sunburnt legs and says, “well, you realize that this is only a small village doctor’s surgery and, in reality, I’ve really got nothing at all to help you.”
He then gives the man one tablet of Viagra: “However, try this”, he adds.
So the man says “but I’ve got acute sunburn what’s a Viagra tablet going to do?”
The doctor says, “basically, nothing at all for the sunburn but it will help keep the sheets off of your legs tonight.”

Is there no happy medium? The wild hen ranch girls were stroking out the last few days. It’s been 100+ here, and I have the flipflop tan to prove it.

@Nancy - I am having difficulty typing due to laughing at your joke.
@Brighid - I would melt in those temperatures. A little warm dry weather would make me happy.

I lost a comment I made earlier.
@Steph - I hope you enjoyed home leave today.
@Baino - No fear of any sunburn here this weekend, we are more likely to have it in mid winter.

I think the husband in the cartoon should pay more attention to his wife. It might help her get an even tan.
