I am learning….

To:-

  • Sit upright in a high chair with arm rests.
  • Avoid low chairs.
  • Use a sock aid to put on stockings.
  • Use a long handled shoe horn to put on my shoes.
  • Not to pivot on my  leg when walking or allow my leg to rotate out or in excessively.
  • Remember NOT to cross my legs while sitting or lying in bed (wonder if I can do it while fibbing?).
  • Have one way traffic in bed - get in and out of bed on the side of the hip to be operated on.
  • Use a pillow between my legs in bed to keep my new hip in the correct position (do you think I could get away with substituting a toyboy?).

Any takers for my sandals….

    Well keep at the learning, a healthy body is a healthy mind which in turn means more creative insights from beloved Grannymar :)

    Goodness, that’s a lot of restrictions to remember! Love the sandals. Except that you’d spend the whole morning doing up all the fastenings and all evening undoing them again….

    The problem with sleeping with a toyboy between your legs is that they will move a lot more than a pillow and will interrupt the hip healing.

    They might be useful for doing up the sandals

    @Ashok - An open mind is the easiest way to learn.

    @Nick - I need to undo the bad habits of a lifetime. :(

    @Will - Nah! The sandals will have to go! Slip-on shoes from now on methinks.

    So I suppose a Toyboy Tango is out of the question….?

    Annb,

    The tango music is now the accompaniment to my dusting and cleaning. The work certainly goes with a swing! Pity I can’t swivel the hips! :roll:

    Sounds like you are nearly there!

    I have a pillow for sleeping with as it helps my ‘disco-hip’ problems - mine’s a ‘body pillow’ a bit like an overlong bolster - its brilliant and I can rest my elbow on it too!!

    I’m losing it here - comfort is suddenly more attractive than a toy boy!!

    Or you could slip a blow-up Toy Boy over the body pillow and have it all.

    Been there, done that and continue to even now. Must try the toygirl substitute though!.. The sandals look tempting but must find the toygirl to get her to wear them.

    @Kate - It happens to all of us. :(

    @Brighid - Why didn’t I think of that! :lol:

    @Ramana - Go easy on the toygirl! :roll:

    Ye gods and little fishes! Where did you find those?

    Keeping your ankles uncrossed is important. It affects blood pressure!
    When I had my (delicate) op I used to cross my ankles. It was amazing how much attention I got from the nurses! ;-)

    @Magpie - Do you fancy my gladiator sandals? I have a major problem uncrossing my ankles - well they are warmer when crossed.

    @Judy - :D

    “Have one way traffic in bed”

    That three way thing gets far too complicated with a faulty hip, I agree.

    I’d have to write list to remember all that. Do you normally do a lot of ‘pivoting’ when walking? Get a fat toyboy, they don’t move so much.

    @WWW - You’re telling me! :roll:

    @Baino - We all pivot without realising it. The 90° turn becomes four moves- choose a hip and try it!

    Does that mean I am in the Sienna Miller class, so? ;)

    I have it. Get a toyboy who is a masseur. I am assuming you are talking about a real human toyboy and not a plastic one. That way you can have a back rub and then go to sleep with the pillow. Well it is just a thought.
