Food Monday ~ To quench a thirst
With all the good weather about it is time for outdoor living and BBQs. There is nothing like a good punch to to get the party going.
Gin Punch
3 Bottles of medium sweet white Wine
1 Bottle Gin
2 Bottles orange (dilute able)
Mix wine and gin with one bottle of orange. Add extra orange to taste. Serve in a large bowl decorated with sugar and orange slices.
(75 glasses approx)
>*<+>*<+>*<+>*<
Punch with Champagne and Cointreau
1 bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine
2 bottles white wine
½ bottle Cointreau
1 punnet of fresh strawberries, washed & halved.
Mix champagne, wine & Cointreau add halved strawberries just before serving.
>*<+>*<+>*<+>*<
And if you want something for the drivers why not try this one:
Sea Breeze
1litre Cranberry juice
450ml fresh Orange Juice
A few ice cubes
1 lime
Combine the chilled cranberry and orange juice with the juice from half the lime. Add the ice cubes and serve with slices of lime.
If there are no drivers try adding an extra kick with a good splash of chilled Vodka.
No Nancy, that was Vodka and not Vinegar!

What’s this about ‘great minds thinking alike’ and all that?
I had just got a recipe for Elderflower Cordial and about to post as it is a lovely refreshing drink. Waiting to include photo of Eldeflower

Gin=headaches for me after only one drink….
let’s replace one of the bottles of wine with another champagne….bubble bubble! Weee!
The elderflowers around her are all but over….I was too late…have to wait for the berries and mulberries from around the corner..and Tesco want to “move” the tree!

Magpie,
My Elly cannot touch Gin, so she might like your alternative.

Grannymar,
I really like it when you print recipes for drinks with Gin and Wine and Vodka. I make them up immediately and drink them till they’re gone…The Gin Punch is the hardest; 75 glasses takes me hours to put away.
You know, I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they get up in the morning that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day…

Show me The Way To Go Home,
I’m Tired and I Want to Go To bed
I had a little Drink About An Hour Ago
And It Went Right To My Head
Wherever I May Roam
On Land or Sea Or Foam
You Can Always Hear me Singing This Song
SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME…….

Boy, those punch bowls ought to get the party off to a great start.
Darn you, Nancy. I will be singing that song all day.
A punch bowl made with wine and gin ought to get the party off to a great start. (I’m not sure that the end would be so grand, though.)
Darn you, Nancy. I will be singing that song all day.

Well, my first comment didn’t get posted so I wrote another. Both showed up in the comment section. I guess I know how to get noticed.

Darlene,
We will blame the punch!

I meant in both cases……..
I don’t know if this comes under Recipes or Tips but…… can’t afford Pink Champagne?
Put a bud of Hibiscus sabdariffa, known a Sorrel to our West Indian friends, in the bottom of the glass before pouring the Champagne!.
Sit and watch the gorgeous pink to red colour diffuse through the wine!

Darlene,
In your honor I will recite a poem to get the song out of your head…..
“Starkel, starkel little twink
What the heck you are, you think
I’m not under the alcafluence of inkahol
like some thinkle peep I am
It’s just the drunker I stand here,
The longer I get.”

At last! Recipes even I can make. Strawberry champagne punch please! Then I think my favourite summer drink has to be Dango Maquiries. Flesh of three or four fresh mangoes, dollops of white rum, squelch a couple of limes, bung in a blender with a goodly dose of ice and moosh.

LOL, the Nancy & Darlene show is a hoot.
Recipes for the drink are much more fun than food ones.
