Handy Hints for Wednesday ~ 32
We have all done it - struggled to find the opening end on the roll of sticky tape. Problem solved. Use a small coin or a paper clip placed on the roll side just before you cut the tape, when the cut end falls back to the roll the end is always visible.
Do you want to remove pilling knots on sweaters? Just rub a piece of sandpaper over the sweater.
When roasting poultry truss it with dental floss, it will hold the legs in position and not burn.
To keep potatoes from sprouting store them in the dark or with apples in the same container.
Tired of coating food with plain old bread crumbs? Why not substitute the bread with crushed crisps/potato chips, cereal flakes or pretzels. I also use the dust from my muesli.

We’ve always stored our potatoes in the dark but they still sprout. We could try storing them with apples….

@ChrisB - We all throw things out at times only to regret it later.
@Nick - I remember a farmer telling me to put a sack or old coat over the potatoes to keep out all the light.

Grannymar,
I am writing from the Emergency Room of our local hospital where they are treating my damaged breasts.
I guess I shouldn’t have rubbed my sweater so hard with that sandpaper you told us to use.
Please be more specific next time and at least mention taking off the sweater before sandpapering… Thank you.

Oh, my friend Steph is back. You are a sight for sore eyes…. We have missed you so much.
I stuck up for you the other day,you know. I said you were sick in the hospital; you were not in jail like everybody said you were.
Happy, happy, happy to have you back commenting on my comments and commenting together.
Now we can really give GM a run for her money..
So glad you are back, Duck!

@ Nancy
Thank you! It’s lovely to be back
There was one member of the catering staff who’s every second word was ‘Duck’ …
“Allo Duck,
Like some lunch, Duck?
Fish or pasta bake, Duck?
Enjoy, Duck”
The food was DIRE but the hubby came to the rescue with smuggled-in rations.
btw Where’s that Grannymar one got to tonight?

You suggest using various substitutes instead of bread for coating food. You use some different kind of dust. The only dust I have is in my vacuum cleaner. I don’t think that would taste very well.

I’m back.
@Steph - Welcome back to the playground.
@Baino - that Pretzel chicken schnitzel might turn up on my table before the weekend.
@Savannah - Welcome on board, do come back and join in the fun.
@BHB - Vacuum cleaner? vacuum cleaner- Oh yeah! That machine in the back of the cupboard. I really must take it out and use it one of these days,
