Thursday Special ~ Quoits

My blog is really going down hill…

Yesterday we had mention of “Wherewithal” and “FROM HERE TO ETERNITY”.

I would rather play Quoits!

Now this made me wet myself. A quoit is a euphemism for a botty hole in Australia (I’m trying to be nice because this is a nice blog) is it not there? Like ’stick it up yer quoit!”.

I do remember playing proper quoits (hahah still can’t stop laughing) on the ship on the way over to Aus when I was just 11 . .if that’s how old people get their jollies . . I’m gonna shoot myself! (Actually I’m one of the few people I know who use the term wherewithall and whilst . . .)

Love it GM, so badly needed a giggle and you delivered!

    Baino,

I never heard of that term before and only associate quoits with deck games on cruise ships. Glad I made you smile.

    OoooH! You ARE awful!

That was quoit an interesting fact, Baino! At school the following was sometimes said,” Oh! Sphincters!”…even heard a teacher say it once…he had the grace to blush when we laughed!

And if the Viagra doesn’t work, they could always use the top of his head. It looks nice and pointy and quoit-shaped.

I want to get back to “From Here To Eternity” because I once posted a story about meeting the author, James Jones, on ‘TIME GOES BY’ Story Telling Place. James would get Baino’s quoits joke.

Truth to tell, I don’t have a clue about playing Quoits - never saw it played.

    Darlene,

Rope quoits developed on ships - sailors used quoits made from rope and either attached a stake to a wall or used an upstanding part of the ship as a target. Emigrants from England who naturally travelled by sea, took the game of rope quoits to the British colonies where it is still played today - especially in Australia.

It’s played in Australia? Seriously? I live such a sheltered life. I must get me some quoit action! (I think I’d be looked at very strangely if I asked someone to throw a quoit!)

    Hmmm…

Now I know why you need 50 boy toys at a time! Different points for different size targets.

@Baino - You never know the quoits might bring you some action!

@Conrad - Shush! will ye! They don’t know that one yet. ;)
