Silence is Golden!

I never enjoyed a beach holiday.

I think I would applaud that guy!

Thanks Ramana for the link.  Is he saying I talk too much? :roll:

On a serious note for a moment….
I love Blogger/Twitter/Photowalk Meet-ups.
I always seem to have conditions for my attendance. How close can I park my car?  Will we be walking a great distance?  How many flights of stairs are involved.  These questions are not because I am an awkward ould biddy, but because of my health.
In younger days I walked for miles, ran up stairs two steps at a time and seldom worried about where I parked a car.  Things have changed!  In my head I am still thirty and want to do all the things I did half a lifetime ago, alas that is not possible.  I need to plan ahead and if I know a ‘busy day’ is planned I rest on the days before and after an event.  I am not ready to hang up my life just yet.
My problem is that my energy drains suddenly just as in that video, it is like a plug has been pulled.  I am used to it, but for those around me it can be a little frightening.  If it should happen when you are around, just sit me down and stay calm.  Fussing and getting excited only adds more stress.
Elly & George are quite used to seeing me in ‘Victorian’ weakness moments.  With all the items that Elly carries in her bag I have yet to see smelling salts,  Do they still make them?
This video made me think…
Will it give George the idea to roll me up and put me in the nearest bin. :roll:

    Hmmm, that would be a handy solution to all those pompous bores and so-called experts we have to listen to. My aversion to beach holidays is not the company, more the huge crowds of people and the lack of personal space.

    Roll you up and put you in the nearest bin? How could anyone even think of such a fate for an award-winning blogger and national treasure?

    Nick,

    Give me a beach at 7am in the morning or in the middle of winter and I would enjoy a walk, or scramble over rocks, then you can take it back for the remainder of the day.

    National treasures should be shared.

    You can talk all you like, GM

    You’re priceless! :mrgreen:

    As for the beach…I agree with Nick..I love empty spaces…prferably cool and windswept!

    In my case, the problem was to get Urmeela to talk at all! Had a video been made with me being deflated, that would have made sense to her!

    @Steph - I think I talk plenty!

    @Magpie - George wouldn’t roll me up….. I think…. I hope!

    @Ramana - Some men would say you were blessed to have a quiet wife.

    I certainly understand about energy suddenly dissipating. When our mind wants to do the things we once did and our bodies say “no” it’s hard to adjust. But the reality is that we have to adjust or give in. Like you, I am not ready to give in yet. Good for you in continuing to enjoy life and make the necessary adjustments.

    Darlene,

    Life is too good to let rain stop play. A slower pace and couple of extra fuel stops make the going easier.

    If you think you need smelling salts, make your own. Warning, makes migraines worse!

    1. Mix 1 cup epsom salts and 1/4 cup kosher or sea salt in a large mixing bowl or sturdy plastic bag.
    2. Add 6-8 drops of essential oil, depending on how strong you would like the scent. A sinus clearing scent can be produced with 2 drops of eucalyptus oil, 2 drops of peppermint essential oil, and 2 drops of lemongrass essential oil.
    3. Stir thoroughly. Using a chopstick or silicone spatula helps coat the salts evenly.
    4. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring.
    5. To use as bath salts, place the finished product in a resealable plastic bag or an airtight container.
    6. To use as smelling salts, sew a small pillow out of cheesecloth or fine lace. Add the salts and sew shut.

    Migraines and sinus headache pain and congestion may be alleviated with smelling salts.
    Warnings
    If using smelling salts to treat a migraine, be careful. Extremely strong scents can worsen nausea.

    Thanks for that.

    Grannymar & Darlene, I relate to EVERYTHING you said. Wanting to run up stairs 2 at a time, move, move, move all day long like I used to. I’ll get a new hip on June 23 & I’ll be better. (A car hit me on my bicycle 20 years ago, broke my pelvis & now my hip is ……*^%#@(%@#!!!)

    bikehikebabe,

    Darlene is an example to both of us, she had hip surgery last year at Thanksgiving time. 83 years of age and still living independently…. now that is what I want!

    Wouldn’t it have been easy just to say “shut the hell up”? Now he has to carry her off of the beach!

    Gail,

    Some people unfortunately refuse to understand that phrase.

    You think her bag is bad? You should see her car :D

    @ChrisD,

    What were you doing in Elly’s bag :?:

    Did I see her car… I traveled in her car. I think there might be more room in the boot/trunk!

    I was sent in at one point in time to fetch phone and/or other things while she was driving…

    Hoi! My car was cleaned out over a month ago and now has a proper rubbish bag and no loose rubbish - it’s nice and clean!

    And as for my bag - it may be small, but it’s usually a complete tardis in terms of what it can hold - but the fact that people know how much is in my bag shows how often they have asked for something and been able to find it in there!! :-P
