Coffee

I like Coffee!

Coffee is not just a drink.

I like iced coffee and Coffee Helps & the Coffee Maker.  They are people.  They are Bloggers & Twitterers that I have met in real life.

iced coffee takes great photos.  The Coffee Maker makes great coffee & Coffee Helps tells great stories of her travels around Europe.

Hailey from Coffee Helps is home in Norn Iron for a couple of weeks and I was anxious to catch up for a real live chat.  The word soon spread, and on Thursday evening Hails, D@\/e, Nelly, Hannah, Ed Hillan and I gathered for coffee and a good old chat.  Topics covered cats, dogs, chickens, a nasty fox and a clarinet.  Mother’s, mothers-in-law and prospective unions were in the ring too.  We touched travel, troubles, politics and blogging, the craic was mighty and the laughter rang from the rafters.  A very enjoyable evening indeed.

Now when is the next one….

Belfast Flickr Group are meeting at noon and The Waterfront Hall is in our sights today.

I might be missing for some time.

Back to childhood…father’s portable wind up gramophone with a sock for volume control and a box of precious 78rpm shellac records. Among the an Ink Spots record of The Java Jive:

    Later covered by Manhattan Transfer…

Who uses a percolator these days?

I like coffee too. The coffee that I like best is made from seeds grown in Mysore in South India, hand roasted in a rotating drum, freshly for every charge, hand ground in a gadget that has a rotating handle and is fixed to the edge of a table or the kitchen platform. The freshly ground, still warm powder is then poured into the top half of a filter with tiny holes. Hot water is poured over the powder and the decoction is added to hot milk given a good dose of sugar, mixed and drunk for total bliss.

Mysore coffee..there’s a man who knows his beans… There are some wonderful coffees from India….some wonderful beans from a plantation in Sunticoppa…..called Bibi! And monsooned coffee is a treat

    Mmm!

Sorry GM we’ll have to get someone else to drink the tea…… as well as the Indian coffees I enjoy Javan/Sumatran…oh let’s face it I love coffee…except that stuff that passes for espresso in a lot of places. Montgomery coffee company have a fantastic espresso blend if you have to have espresso!

Actually I’ve only just discovered Hails although I’ve seen her around the blogs for ages. Loved her travels in Switzerland. I so wish we had this photowalk thing going on. I’ve booked into a one day workshop in June where we wonder around the city and learn how to use the tricky knobby bits on our cameras so who knows, I might learn a thing or two!

Sacrilege - milk in coffee? Drinking good coffee black is the only way to go.

Have to agree…milk in coffee…yeuk….and too much in tea is yeuker!

Someone tried to get me to drink some tea as they made it at home in Sri Lanka! Boiled milk…i shudder at the thought of it!

Mind you…I love to float cold double cream on top of piping hot aweet black coffee from time to time….no, I will not spoil the coffee with whisky or vice versa…

@Baino - At the end of the day suggest meeting up with a couple of people from the course. You can teach them to blog in return for camera tips!

@Darlene - I do need to add some sugar to sweeten me up.

@Magpie - Yeuk & yeuker! I love those words and am going to steal them.

Grannymar, it was good to meet up again. If you haven’t got Ed a ‘toyboy’ badge ordered yet I might offer him mine, for a price. I reckon it’s worth over £1000 at least. Should I?
