Handy Hints for Wednesday ~ 22

I think you all guessed I was having a little fun last week with it being April Fool’s day.  Today I have more serious hints for you.

Separate your good dishes by putting a coffee filter between each dish.

If you have a toe fungus problem use one part vinegar to one part warm water and soak your feet. This repeated over the course of a week will clear up your toenails.

To remove the smell of garlic, onions, or fish from a cutting board wash with lemon juice.

Poached fish will be firmer and whiter if you add lemon juice to the cooking liquid.

Feeling flat in the afternoon? Mix two teaspoons of Angostura bitters in a glass of tonic water and sip.  The mixture of the quinine in the tonic and the bark extracts in the bitters will refresh and revive you.

I’d prefer two large gin and tonics, please :D

    Steph,

I have two bottles in front of me… NO! they are not open right now! :D

One is a 1 Litre bottle of Gin that states the alcohol is 40% vol. While the little unassuming under the counter 200ml bottle of Angostura Bitters is 44.7% alcohol/vol!

Is it any wonder it makes you feel good………

Sch… Scher… seriously folks I never touched a drop! hic!

Oh boy! What a way to spoil Angostura bitters!…Tonic is too bitter for me! Pink Vodka….for me!

BTW that 44% proof is all very well but to experience it you’d have to consume a lot of other things to get the effect and by than you’d be very ill!

    Magpie,

I like Angostura bitters & tonic. In fact, I have been known to drink tonic undiluted when I know I have to drive. An alternative short would be ginger ale it looks like a drink, and I hate long glasses of sweet fizzy stuff.

Grannymar, I am again, in awe at how you hop, gazelle like, from coffee filters to gin with a nod to vingegar along the way! Now that’s what I call class!

The important thing is that everyone else thinks you do!

Right on, GM. When I was entertaining people who were looking for a home I usually took them for lunch. Not wanting to drink alcohol at Noon and yet not wanting to discourage them from have a nip if they wanted one, I would order a tonic and lime and they never knew the difference.

I don’t think I ever mentioned it to them but I think they thought I was having a nip right along with them.

Ginger Ale’s okay….I seem to be very sensitive to bitterness…more ways than one I think…but heat! Well I tried my first bird’s eye chilli the other day bit into it and for once a chilli caused a reaction..but the heat was soon coped with… much to everyone’s amazement.

Must try putting a few chillies in a bottle of vodka some time!

Loved the tips however I’m not sure bitters and tonic could do it..I need something stiffer as life is really in the dog house lately..

    Hugs from me

    Ah I love your tips.
But do you not realize how talented you are to be able to be putting coffee filters between the plates, while soaking your feet in vinegar, pouring lemon juice on the dinner, and knocking back a bit of tonicy stuff.

@Magpie - All this talk of drink has gone to your head! I hope there were no after affects from the chillies!

@Dorothy - Sorry to hear that things are not too godd at the moment. Hugs.

@Brighid - And all with two hands :!:
