Wot no soda?

Lemon acts as a flavour enhancer too!

As for cooking smells..the olduns in Norfolk used to burn a candle right next to the stove while frying herring.....and it works for other smells too....

I HATE the smell of cooking anywhere else in the house except coffee and bacon as i come in the front door!

What's a Fifty pound note?

Elf,

Last time somebody sent me money in an envelope all €200 went walkabout.

I only kept an account number in my mobile all the other info was in my head.

I am always worried about those harsh chemicals on my skin so easy solutions like the one above are a winner for me every time.

My mum used to send £50 notes to my sister in brown envelopes.
(Mostly from about a week after she got her grant cheque and spent it in Benneton and Mat O'Flatertys on Shop St)
I'm still amazed that they got to her, even if it was 19 yrs ago.

I used to keep my mum's account details in my phone as a note so I could transfer money into her account, until my phone got stolen and my boss was furious when he found out what a boo boo i made.
Now I use banking online.

Will try the oven cleaner at the end of the month, I don't cook (at all) much but it needs a clean all the same and Mr Muscle makes me nauseous.

Lottie - We mums are handy at times ;)

My mum used to do the same, secretly putting a few quid into my accound now and then.

Sometimes she still tops up my phone.

Aren't mammies the best?!

Grannymar,

To add to your valuable tip about sharing account information, someone told me a tip about hotel keys.

This person said that the black band across the back of the plastic key that you insert in the electronic door lock contains a lot of personal info about you. It may be your name and address, credit card number, etc. This person said NEVER return that plastic key. It is worth next to nothing so you are not hurting the hotel, but you could hurt yourself if the wrong person has access to that info.

Perhaps someone who is in the hotel business can tell us if this information is correct. In the meantime, I do not return that key when I check out....

Good tip about the lemon and the cooking smell. That's the part about cooking cauliflower I hate most. Good tip about the account details too. Can't be too careful in these trying times.

Thank goodness for online banking...

These days you can transfer money at the push of a button, from the comfort of your own home.
