A Visitor

It is always nice to have a visitor.

This little fellow came to see me in October 2006

I am not sure he liked my garden, he only stayed a short time

OH now, he’s so cute! Clearly you don’t have enough slugs, snails, frogs or toads in your garden to feet his appetite!

Our hedgehogs disappeared many years ago! Now all we have is urban %£**!& foxes…yes, I swore (mildly)…and I swear (less mildly) about the fools that feed them…..

Sorry, but we now have gardens ravaged by slugs and snails…. I suspect that the hedgehogs were killed off by the little blue pellets that people use without due caution!

Reading Baino’s comment…grow some ivy snails love it to hide in ;-)

@Baino - Slugs are plentiful , but we have no snails and I have not seen a frog for years.

@Magpie - I remember seeing a very young fox in the garden once. It was so young that a cat scared it off. Our town is growing and the green fields are disappearing beneath housing estates. Yet within 2 miles in any direction we have green fields. :D

One side on my garden is covered with a varigated ivy, a clamatis and a japanese honeysuckle.

I am not a flower person so the garden is all shrubs.

He’s cute! I haven’t seen many frogs in years, and we used to have so many that we couldn’t sleep at night for their croaking. It is said that where there are frogs - there are no snakes. I want my frogs again!!

Awwww he’s so cute!! Lucky he visited your garden and not mine Grannymar, I’d have been tempted to hognap him and keep him for a pet :)

Perhaps he saw you heading in his direction with the hedge trimmer and he got a bit alarmed….

@Judy - Frogs were few and far between in our garden. Perhaps the Kestrel I once saw on the line pole and often see hovering in the distance, cleared the area of frogs.

@whoopsadaisy - I hope you would feed him cat food and not bread & milk like most people do!

    Nick,

Sneaking in when I am distracted is dangerous! ;) Thankfully no hedge trimmer this time.

Perhaps seeing me was enough to frighten the hedgehog.

Hi….don’t forget that frogs need water…to breed and hibernate (IIRC)

    GM….I put the thingy in!

    Grannymar,

The colours in your lovely photo are enough to lift anyone’s spirit. After all the rain, fog, snow and ice of recent weeks we could really use a bit of colour right now.

Talking of foxes, I heard a funny report on the radio this morning…

An antique shop in Killarney had a novel idea to attract customers into the shop. The owner, obviously desperate for business, put a stuffed fox in the window with a sign…

“For fox’s sake come in and buy something!”

    Steph,

The snow has almost gone from the garden today. We had a thick fog both yesterday and today. A day for looking inward and the little hedgehog brightened up my desktop.

Colorful background for the cute little critter. It makes a very pretty nature scene. I would like hedgehogs here — we get ground squirrels, toads, and lizards. The squirrels are cute, but the others –well, not so.

    Darlene,

I liked the colour in the photo and was using it on my desktop for a few days, then I thought I would share it.

    I’ve guessed the thingy! :D

You’ve shown Magpie how to link to other people’s blogs? I noticed he wasn’t linked yesterday (on my blog) but didn’t mention it for fear of sending Magpie flying back to his nest!

    Steph,

Magpie is doing well for just four days. Soon he will out do both of us!

Aw he is so cute. And that’s a great photo too!

    Thanks Lottie,

He was so small and I was afraid that by the time I got the camera he would have gone!

Glad I made it in time. :D
