It's so true, what you say. Facebook applications can be ignored so easily though, it's just mindless frivolity, I truly hate the flowery stuff though! The best things that these have to offer are the links that people add... it's the best way to keep up to date with current events and web interest stuff. Facebook I still log into on a daily basis but only respond to those tho have posted something or linked. It's more a 'fun' thing for me but I agree with the mega applications so only accept the 'cause' ones. As for reverse type, it's a design faux pas. Any graphic designer will tell you it works in print but not on the web. As for judging, I think you're more qualified than you realise, certainly for say, non technical blogs. Have a go!
