I love 'On Raglan Road', the line about 'not making hay' beautifully captures the clash of cultures between the old Ireland and the temptations of the new, represented by Dublin. I haven't had a birthday party since I was very young so have no idea about who I would invite. If I followed what I preached, it would be the people no-one else welcomed.
