    This explains those most memorable words of George Bush Sr.

    “I do not like broccoli. And I haven’t liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I’m President of the United States and I’m not going to eat any more broccoli.”

    My God! The kid’s right. I remember it now…….

    We had returned home from an evening of drinking and dancing. He wanted to make mad passionate love but I wanted to eat. I opened the frig and it was then that I heard it; the siren call of the broccoli.

    I knew I was tempting fate by eating 18 pieces but caution goes to the winds when you are caught up in the moment. He begged me to stop;not wanting the responsibility of fatherhood, but it was too late. The seed had been planted,the broccoli had been eaten.

    There was no turning back now.There’s no “Morning After” pill for broccoli.

    So, that’s how it happened, folks. Listen to the kids when they try to tell you something. They are usually right….

    Goodness, don’t they know babies are left under the gooseberry bush? Coming out of mummy’s tummy, indeed - they’ll believe anything.

    Work finished for another day!

    @whoopsadaisy - Children learn from what we say, sometimes even when we don’t realise they are listening.

    @Lottie - I am well away from you! ;)

    @Nancy - Thanks for the lesson! :D

    @Roy - Stick with the baby stem brocoll!

    @Paddy - :lol:

    @Nick - I came from under a gooseberry bush!

    @raptureponies - Are you going on a diet?

    @Judy - Keep away from tomatoes, they have seeds!
