I am not a has-been. I am a will be. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance

Brian ~ I really believe what you say.
Mammy had a saying 'Man proposes and God disposes!'

Nancy ~ Seeing Elly & George so happy together makes my illness worth the suffering.

WWW ~ Blessings, we all have them in abundance. Sometimes they are right under our noses, yet we don’t see them.

GM:
A lovely piece and on one of my favourite topics too, how we never know where the path is going, let go of the control switch and magic happens. Your illness had wonderful far reaching effects. Counting your blessings - attagirl!!!

Grannymar,

Funny Brianf should mention Dubai. I was just reading in the paper today that the QEII is going to be refitted and turned into a hotel in Dubai.

It's going to be called The Palm Jumeirah.

Did you hear anything about that while you were there,Brianf?

And, GM, I'm not happy that you were ill in 2002, but it did change the course of three lives. Yours, Elly's and George's.
Yes, it was Kismet!

Grannymar,
I really believe that things happen for a reason.
I'm just home from Dubai, UAE. Things there went in the exact opposite direction I expected them too. I had the best holiday ever! :)

Conor ~ glad to help.

Steph ~ I make all my own soup and regularly have it for lunch with my own wheaten bread. I grew up in a home where all food was made from scratch. I continued on that road when I moved here. I love when E&G come as it gives me a chance to cook a special meal or three! Cooking for one is soul destroying. I never do a roast now, a small joint cooks quicker not allowing the flavour to develop properly.

And yes I have some interesting recipes for soup, meals and cakes, someday I might share one or two.

Grannymar - that was a lovely reflective piece. Thank you.

It's weird you chose to write on this topic today as I've safely kept a piece you re-produced on 'Happiness' last September, to pop into a birthday card of a dear friend of mine whose birthday is tomorrow. These words sum up my friend to a tee - she exudes happiness all around her. And she has the most beautiful grey locks you'd ever see!

Here are those words again:

* Happiness is a choice — a choice we make every day.
* Happiness is not a condition of our circumstances or external influences. It is a state of mind and heart.
* Happiness comes most often when we focus on solving other people’s pain and problems as opposed to thinking only of our own.
* Happiness isn’t what we have or who we are. It’s feeling valuable and worthy regardless of our station in life.
* Happiness is within everyone’s reach.

btw I admired your direct action yest. Very therapeutic stuff homemade soup! I love making soup though recently the Cully & Sully range has me spoilt. It's the nearest thing to your own. Any nice winter soup recipes you'd like to share?
