What a delightful story, and more delight in your reading. I so enjoyed hearing it. My paternal grandmother fed tramps at her door during the depression here in the U.S. in the late 30s and 40s (& the depression lasted a lot longer in the south where I was born)… She had a son who sounds a lot like your uncle as well. He was always pulling off terrible stunts as well. Thanks for the memories.

She was. Humour was not part of her life.

My uncle was ready to burst as he had eaten his dinner an hour before he came to our house. He was such good fun. I still miss him.
