I am not a has-been. I am a will be. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance

Kate. the clothes airers you mention are still available and very trendy nowadays. They were very handy for airing the washing and keeping it well out of the way.

I'm lamenting all the great stuff my gran used to have... an increadibly old iron- the type you put hot coal into to warm it up, a wooden box with a rod on it's side which when twisted, made a strange but wonderful inca head pop up (the kind you would expect could lead to adventure maybe?), and an indoor washing line you could reel up and down.. an amazing contraption with all sorts of cogs and ropes and dangly bits. I miss that stuff. I miss my gran.
